    • I always think about how clothes feel when I look at Hermès. How will the leather sit on the shoulders? How will the skirt move with each step? Does the piece look as comfortable as it is beautiful? Some clothes make me want to look at them; others make me curious to wear them. With Hermès, I tend towards the latter. I want to know how such attention to material translates into a sensation against the skin.

At the Spring/Summer 2027 womenswear show in Paris on October 3, where A7 was in attendance, there was plenty to deepen that curiosity.

Nadège Vanhée takes the lightness of air as her starting point, giving it form through fine materials and open constructions. It is an idea suited to summer, but what interested me most was its effect on the image of the woman: an elegance that feels relaxed without losing its precision.

The openwork knits and mesh dresses threaded with fine leather strips caught my attention. I love this meeting of space and material, between a surface that reveals what lies beneath and lines that hold it together. Leather becomes a lighter element within the construction, while the craftsmanship remains visible in the details.

I find transparency most appealing when it is part of the composition of a look. The openings draw the eye between layers and reveal the body gradually. Here, the space a garment leaves around a woman feels as important as the fabric itself. There is a sense that the air between body and clothing has been considered too, and that movement will keep changing their relationship.

This lightness also appears in exceptionally thin calfskin jackets and silk pongee parkas. Belts and silk scarves revisit familiar elements of the house’s vocabulary, shaping the silhouette or bringing movement to it.

For me, this is one of the collection’s most convincing aspects. I can imagine the pleasure of a jacket that preserves the beauty of leather while easing its weight, or a loose piece that responds to each step. At this level of delicacy, craftsmanship becomes closely connected to the experience of wearing the clothes. Some Hermès pieces need to be encountered up close to be fully understood.

I also liked the slits in the leather pieces and the open side zips on trousers, alongside flat sandals and leather bags with open latticework. An orange parka and a sunflower-yellow ensemble bring a different energy to the collection.

There is practicality in these details without the clothes becoming overly functional. Flat sandals sit naturally within the looks, while openings offer both visual interest and greater ease. Orange and yellow shift the mood again, capturing that moment at the beginning of summer when one piece can change the feeling of an entire wardrobe.

Still, some of the more restrained looks make less of an immediate impression than those combining knitwear and leather or using colour with greater confidence. I gravitate towards these more distinctive moments because they make the collection’s idea clearest and give me a reason to linger. The simpler pieces leave more of their appeal to the material itself and to what they might reveal when worn.

My lasting impression is that lightness can be a form of luxury. Fine leather that no longer feels heavy, shoes a woman can comfortably walk in and clothes that retain their beauty in motion all alter the experience of wearing them. That, more than anything, is what stayed with me from Hermès this season.
