Against an ornate, almost baroque interior, Cartier watches and jewellery become part of the exchange. Diamonds move with the wrist; one watch takes on the fluidity of jewellery, while another leaves its mechanics exposed. The Panthère brings instinct into a setting otherwise governed by good manners.
There is time to wait, watch and see who moves first. Mastering the waiting game, one second at a time. A polite ritual starts to slip slightly off course and, before long, it is less obvious who is following whose lead. Who gets the last word, or the last sip?
A change of hands can be literal, but it can also be open to interpretation. Here, time is something to wear as much as to keep: measured through precise mechanics, wrapped around the wrist, picked out in diamonds. With the right timing, and the right adornment, favour can change sides surprisingly quickly.
By the time the choice is made, the tables are turned.
